Top-Five North American Insurer Drives Customer Experience Through Microsoft Azure Cloud Migration
Business Challenge
The top-five insurer previously relied on a single sign-on application to deliver a user-friendly experience to their policyholders, but the on-premises application soon became antiquated—unable to integrate new features and services, its security and performance suffered, defeating its original purpose of improving customer experience. The insurer reached out to ValueMomentum to help modernize its data platform in the cloud, so they could once again provide superior experiences to their customers, counselors, and IT professionals.
Tools and Technology
ValueMomentum’s DataLeverage team migrated the application to Microsoft’s Azure Cloud, developed a new SSO application on ForgeRock’s Identity platform, and rewrote the ForgeRock authentication agents in an ASP.NET Core framework, deployed as Linux containers through Azure’s Kubernetes Services. Microsoft’s Azure Services were further leveraged, as the team replied on Azure Redis Caches, Cosmos DB, Pipelines, and DevOps git repository to complete the project.
Success Factors
ValueMomentum’s longstanding track record of effectively performing similar migrations, along with its 20+ years of insurance experience, was a critical success factor. The DataLeverage team also deployed technologies and processes that minimally affected the insurer’s operations, so they could continue conducting business as usual, as well as dramatically slashed QA turnaround by leveraging Azure DevOps to drive continuous deployments to dev and integration environments.
Impact
The insurer enjoys much shorter time-to-market timelines by way of centralized automated deployments, which also drives faster and more seamless releases. Developer productivity rose, as cross-application work became smoother, and response time, memory, and CPU usage metrics improved. The insurer ultimately became more agile, data-driven, and efficient, while delivering the superior digital experiences their customers and counselors expect.
